For those of you not familiar with the Boy Scout program, transitioning is a term used when a boy moves up a rank. Shawn was very close to achieving his Eagle Scout badge when he died. Now he is our Angel Scout... The following poem was written by the Troop Chaplain and meant so much to us we asked to have it read at Shawn's funeral. Much thanks to Stanford Carlson for sharing his talents and words with us at that difficult time.

Transitioned now thru heaven's gates
A Scout in Jesus on him waits.
Comfort now is his reward
A peaceful presence with his Lord.
We'll miss Shawn our Scouting friend
Hope will help our lives to mend.
Someday soon we'll meet again
At Heaven's council fire then
To talk and sing and laugh and praise
And glory in those Heavenly days.

My thanks to Judith for sharing with all who visit my site this inspirational poem she wrote.

Look Up to the Dove

God picks us up whenever we fall
Because God is there, seeing us all

And my only wish here my precious dear
Is that you would hold Him quite near

No need to struggle alone with your fears
Just turn to God with your aches and tears.

And whenever fear has chilled your bones
Know that you are never, never alone.

To find his warmth and unlimited love
Just look up and see the dove.

Seek His face and find His peace
And you will find His great relief

So let us be happy and content
With each day as we repent

For He's coming to take us all Home
And never again will we feel all alone
